House rules

Le château fort de Sedan est une propriété de la ville de Sedan. La gestion de cet établissement recevant du public (ERP) est confiée à la société ALFRAN.

Anyone admitted to the site must comply with the rules of access and behaviour described below.

ARTICLE 1 – FIELD OF APPLICATION

These rules are applicable :

  1. To all visitors to the Château de Sedan website.
  2. Any person from outside the department who is present in the establishment for professional reasons

ARTICLE 2 – ACCESS TO THE SITE

  1. The site is open to the public for part of the year at the times displayed on the site. The opening times are also published on the website and in all the communication media published each year.
  2. Access to the site is reserved for those who have paid an entrance fee.
  3. All tickets sold cannot be returned or exchanged.
  4. Ticket sales end one hour before the site closes in low season and two hours in high season.
  5. The entry ticket must be kept until the visitor leaves. It is valid on the day of issue and may be requested from visitors at any time while they are on site.
  6. Access to the site is forbidden to children under the age of 12 unless accompanied by an adult.
  7. Children are the responsibility of the adults accompanying them.
  8. In the event of service requirements or for safety or conservation reasons, the site manager may close the site in whole or in part without informing the visitor in advance. The closure of one or more areas of the site will not result in a reduction in the admission fee.

ARTICLE 3 – GENERAL BEHAVIOUR OF VISITORS

Visitors are asked to :

  1. Proper attire.
  2. Respect the parking areas around the site. It is forbidden to park in the courtyard of the château (refer to the municipal by-law posted in the courtyard).

Within the grounds of the Château de Sedan, it is strictly forbidden :

  1. Letting pets roam freely.
  2. Smoking, spitting and throwing papers and other rubbish on the ground.
  3. Eating or drinking outside the areas reserved for this purpose.
  4. Taking photographs on the site for commercial purposes without prior written authorisation from the management.
  5. Disturbing other visitors by any noisy activity.
  6. Tampering with any site safety or maintenance equipment (alarm, fire extinguisher, tap, etc.) without serious and valid reason

ARTICLE 4 – SAFETY OF PERSONS, PROPERTY AND EQUIPMENT

In order to protect the Monument and everyone on the site, visitors are asked to respect the following rules :

  1. It is formally forbidden to cross fences or barriers or to infringe posted prohibitions.
  2. It is strictly forbidden to climb on the buildings and remains.
  3. It is strictly forbidden to touch any of the works on display in the exhibition areas.

Visitors are expected to respect all the grounds, buildings, equipment and materials on the site. Tout acte de dégradation constaté pourra être sanctionné.

ARTICLE 5 – COMPLIANCE WITH THE RULES

  1. Visitors are required to comply with any comments or instructions given to them by site staff.
  2. Failure to comply with these rules may result in the visitor being excluded from the site and, where appropriate, being liable to claim compensation and take legal action.
