The Army Museum (Invalides, Paris) is lending eight exceptional suits of armour to the city of Sedan from 29 November 2025 to 21 September 2026.
Dating back to the 16th century, these armour suits, unique in the world, come from the castle’s Antiques Gallery. This is where the collections of weapons and armour belonging to the lords and then princes of Sedan – the Bouillon-Turenne collection (16th–19th centuries) – were once kept.
Some of these suits of armour were gifted by the kings of France themselves, as a token of honour and alliance. True masterpieces, they are among the most remarkable suits of armour preserved in France and around the world.
The exhibition invites you to discover the history of these art objects, weapon cabinets and the practice of jousting in the 16th and 17th centuries. Immerse yourself in the history of Sedan Castle, a major historical monument of military architecture and an impregnable fortress for over 600 years!
